CDCB held community consultation to strengthen and promote “Qiltu Re’e” and “Addacha Araara” community reconciliation Center. The area was used to be community reconciliation Center where Abba Gadas and Community leaders settle inter-personal disputes and inter vis-à-vis intra-community clashes in a peacefully through dialogue and endogenous conflict resolution mechanisms. However, the center was not functional for a number of decades due to the weakening of indigenous institutions resulting from various factors. The bigger tree that used to provide services for elders and community leaders has been a place where the youth are exposed to various addictions and criminal acts.  

Understanding this, youth peace volunteers of Negele-Arsi selected the site as their community project to promote peace and social cohesion during the first phase of the project (December 21, 2020 to April 2021).  Reviewing the good results and achievements of the project, CDCB and USAID/OTI/Dexis decided to further strengthen and promote the initiative for the next three months. As project’s kick-off CDCB organized community consultation session to evaluate the current status of the project and future planned activities. Participants were Youth peace volunteers, Abba Gadas, Hadaha Sinkes and local structures representatives.

Abba Gadas and Hadha Sikes were excited with the project and expressed their commitment to support the initiative to reinstate community reconciliation Center for Peace and Social cohesion with all capacity at their disposal.
